"After being able to do the things I love to do, and getting recognition for my singing,…as a human being, you get to a point, as you're surrounded by all this attention and celebrity…that your soul needs tending and that all this isn't all there is,… in this short time we have here on earth. That there is a universal order to life and we surely have a place in it.

I found that true happiness is using all of these earthly things do work for a "higher good". So, contrary to what my friends, family and colleagues in the entertainment business advised me….I went out on a limb and I decided to embark on a career as a TV journalist and to produce, feature and expose the stories that had to do with human interest, focusing on environmental issues, marine ecology in particular because of my passion for the ocean.

I still sing when I feel like it but it is reserved for fund-raising and other good causes. These days,…it's making sure that the world knows what is needed for the preservation of our planet, at least from my own little corner on earth and that,…truly makes me happy…and when a person has happiness,…that person has found peace."
